MANA MAOLI is a nonprofit founded in 1999, that strives for community empowerment, via 3 programs:
- Halau Ku Mana Public Charter School (behind the scenes support, i.e. facilities, grants)
- Kānehūnāmoku Voyaging Academy (our Hawaiian sailing canoe program)
- ‘Maoli Music’ program – at the core of this program is…
the MANA MAOLI COLLECTIVE, which refers to hundreds of artists who donate their time and talent to Mana Maoli CD’s, concerts, school visits, and music mentorships, all in support of over a dozen culture, community & environment-based charter schools.
Mana Maoli Volumes IV and V - “THIS IS MAOLI MUSIC”, is an inspiring collaboration between over 100 pro artists and over 100 youth representing 13 charter schools across the islands. This double CD includes over 3 dozen tracks, a John Cruz-Jack Johnson music video, and other bonus features. Each track is a collaboration, with Hawaii’s favorite artists across many genres working with the youth or each other. Natural Vibes, Paula Fuga, Damon Williams and others collaborated with charter school youth. Pro artist collabs include Rebel Souljahz & Maoli, Irie Love & Kimie, Kali of Ooklah & Mike Love of DubKonscious, Anuhea & King Kekai and many more! |

| Charter schools are public schools of choice led by the community. For 10 years in Hawaii they have demonstrated amazing success with their youth, in academics, attendance, leadership, cultural grounding, and self-esteem. Many attribute this to these schools’ hands-on, real world style of learning, small class size, and foundation of Hawaiian values, culture and language. Public charter schools in Hawaii are severely underfunded. State law calls for equity, yet they receive a fraction of what their mainstream public school counterparts receive per student for operations, and no facilities support. These schools clearly demonstrate considerable success with their students despite such financial struggles. Imagine what they could achieve with equal funding and facilities support… Supporters can:

Conceptually, Mana Maoli is the people,
and Halau Ku Mana the place, of the same learning 'ohana. Officially,
Mana Maoli is the non-profit, and Halau Ku Mana the public charter
school. Mana Maoli and Halau Ku Mana share the same vision and
mission statements...
Our vision is to facilitate individual and community healing
and empowerment by fostering lifelong learners who think, feel,
and act in ways that are pono (harmonious, righteous); for recognizing
strengths and addressing challenges as they seek positive, systemic
change in their local, regional, and global communities.
