Who is up for the exciting challenge of teaching our Hawaiian Charter School youth Mana Maoli’s  ‘ABC’s’ – Academics, Business, & Culture – through music and multimedia?

In addition to drawing upon your own strengths, experiences and curriculum, you would involve music and multimedia industry pros as guest teachers, and pilot lessons developed by our Music & Multimedia Academy Design Team. Might this be a fit for you or someone you know?

On behalf of two its partner schools, Kawaikini Public Charter School in Lihuʻe and Kula Aupuni Niʻihau a Kehelelani Aloha (KANAKA) Public Charter School in Kekaha, Mana Maoli is now hiring instructors for its afterschool/elective classes at these schools.  Kuleana: The primary kuleana of the Mana Mele Instructor is to foster student enjoyment and abilities in music and multimedia, as they increase college/career readiness and cultural grounding in the process. This will be done via piloting place and culture-based curriculum, developed and shared by Mana Mele’s Academy Design Team and all instructors. Instructors will have available and build upon curricula and knowledge resources created at the lead academy development schools, during afterschool or elective courses held 3 hours a week. The aim is to facilitate learning Academics, Business, and Culture through music and multimedia education.

Instructors will receive in-service support from the Academy Coordinator. This will include training in the development and use of culturally responsive, standards-based assessments of students’ musical, academic and cultural learning, and college/career readiness.

The Mana Mele project includes afterschool and elective classes across 9 Hawaiian culture-based charter schools on O’ahu and Kaua’i. Entering its second school year, these classes pilot curriculum being developed toward a Music & Multimedia Academy, where graduates can earn a high school diploma and become culturally grounded, and college/career ready – through the themes of music and multimedia. Each school will have access to Hawaii’s first 4-in-1 solar-powered mobile studio with audio and video production, live event and studio capabilities. Also part of the Mana Mele project, this mobile studio was recently completed after nearly 2 years of buildout, and will be shared by its partner schools across the school year. Detailed job description and project summary available upon request.
